Maintaining oral health is equally important for your pet as it is for humans.
At Campbell River Veterinary Hospital, we know how important your pet’s health is to you, and a big part of that is your pet’s oral health. Dental disease is one of the most common diseases in dogs and cats, and the most preventable. Our team can help you choose the right oral health products, and diets to help maintain and prevent dental disease. Just like us, dogs need regular dental care.
Dentals are performed under general anesthetic, so we can get below the gum line where 60% of the tooth structure is. Removing the plaque and tartar from both above and below the gum line has the best therapeutic outcome. A veterinarian then examines your dog’s teeth and probed checking for any abnormalities. X-rays will be done at this time if needed, and then the teeth are polished by the technician. We offer a complimentary re-check two weeks after your dental and one of our technicians will introduce steps to keep your dog’s teeth healthy.
You should brush your dog’s teeth daily, but as we know this isn’t always possible. We can offer you a wide range of products to help with your dog’s oral health.
Oral health is a critical part of your dog’s overall health. Keeping up with oral hygiene reduces your dog’s risk of oral infections, tooth abscesses and reduces diseases which can affect your dog’s internal organs.
