Dental disease is one of the most common diseases in dogs and cats, and the most preventable. Our team can help you choose the right oral health products, and diets to help maintain and prevent dental disease. Just like us, cats need regular dental care.

What is involved in a dental cleaning procedure?

Dentals are performed under general anesthetic, so we can get below the gum line where 60% of the tooth structure is. Removing the plaque and tartar from both above and below the gum line has the best therapeutic outcome. A veterinarian then examines your cat’s teeth and probes checking for any abnormalities. X-rays will be done at this time if needed, and then the teeth are polished by the technician. We offer a complimentary re-check two week after your dental and one of our technicians will introduce steps to keep your cat’s teeth healthy.

What are signs of dental problems in cats?

Bad breath, inappetence, broken teeth, inflamed and red gums, drooling, sneezing, swelling around the mouth, and eye infections.

Are some feline breeds more susceptible than others?

All cats are susceptible to dental disease. Some cats may be genetically predisposed.

What is feline tooth resorption?

Feline tooth resorption is like a cavity, but it works its way out from the inside of the tooth. It appears as a hole in the tooth near the gum line.
